Objectives:
The goal of this continuing education program is to update nurses’ ability to identify and treat patients with routine and emergent disorders of the eye. After you study the information presented here, you will be able to —
  • Relate two signs and symptoms of conjunctivitis, corneal abrasion, chalazion, retinal detachment, retinoblastoma, and melanoma.
  • Identify a nursing intervention for corneal abrasion, chalazion, and retinal detachment.
  • Recognize two ophthalmic nursing emergencies.
