The goal of this program is to enhance nurses’ ability to correctly use an automated external defibrillator (AED). After you study the information presented here, you will be able to —

  • List indications for using the AED.
  • Identify cardiac dysrhythmias that can be treated with an AED.
  • Discuss the operation and procedure for intervening with an AED.
