Objectives:
When nurses see well babies and children during routine healthcare supervision visits, many parental concerns come to light. The nurse or nurse practitioner may also pick up potential problems in the child’s physical development. Each chapter in this course covers a particular topic or organ system. Each chapter reflects a common parental concern or a potential problem the nurse might detect during the history and physical.
 
The goal of this course is to inform nurses about common pediatric health problems encountered in ambulatory care settings. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to —
  • Identify 10 common pediatric health problems seen in ambulatory care settings.
  • Discuss the signs and symptoms of the 10 problems.
  • Describe treatment and management for these problems.
