Objectives:

The goal of this course is to provide nurses with information about the medical consequences of an act of terrorism that involve weapons of mass destruction. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:

  • Discuss the possible acts of terrorism and weapons of mass destruction.
  • Describe the protective equipment required for acts of terrorism.
  • Identify the common symptoms and methods of treatment associated with exposure to or injuries caused by biological, chemical, radioactive, and nuclear agents.
  • Discuss the reporting procedures for acts of terrorism and the use of the Health Alert Network.
