Objectives:
The goal of this thyroid disorder continuing education module is to provide nurses with a current overview of common thyroid disorders in adults, including autoimmune disorders, thyroid nodules, cancer and treatment options. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
  • Discuss characteristics of two major autoimmune thyroid disorders
  • Describe the process of diagnosis and treatment of thyroid cancer
  • List two components of patient education related to thyroid health, including the “neck check”
