This course will be discontinued on November 20, 2012 because it has been replaced with two 1-hour courses: CE667 "Navigating the Breast Cancer Journey, Part 1: Risk Factors and Diagnosis" and CE668 "Navigating the Breast Cancer Journey, Part 2: Treatment and Resources." Please plan to complete the course before that day if you want to earn continuing education credit for it.
The goal of this module is to provide nurses with a broad overview of breast cancer risk factors, diagnostic and treatment modalities, and psychosocial support for patients diagnosed with breast cancer. After you study the information presented in this learning module, you will be able to —
- Discuss early detection guidelines and risk factors for breast cancer.
- Identify diagnostic and treatment modalities for breast cancer.
- Describe nursing interventions and supportive strategies used for patients who are navigating the breast cancer journey.
