The goal of this program is to help paramedics understand the identifying characteristics of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome; long QT syndrome, short QT syndrome; and Brugada syndrome and the role these syndromes play in sudden cardiac death syndrome among children. After studying the information presented here, you will be able to—
- Define sudden cardiac death and aborted sudden cardiac death.
- Identify the ECG characteristics of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, long QT and short QT syndrome, and Brugada syndrome.
- Identify the treatment options for each and its role in preventing sudden cardiac death in children.
