Objectives:
The purpose of this module is to familiarize paramedics with the problems of homelessness for those with severe and persistent mental illness and to offer a framework for assessment and interventions. After you study the information presented here, you will be able to —
  • Describe problems of homelessness for people with mental illness.
  • List several ways to communicate with and assess people who are homeless and mentally ill.
  • Prioritize interventions for this population.
