The goal of this program is to provide EMS personnel with an understanding of the pathophysiology of injuries related to blunt chest trauma, and to promote awareness of the methods used in assessing and managing the care of these patients. After studying the information here, you will be able to —
- Identify the most common causative factors and related pathophysiology associated with blunt chest trauma.
- Describe the elements of assessment for patients who have sustained blunt chest trauma.
- Differentiate among various injuries that may occur as a result of blunt chest trauma, including appropriate interventions and injury management.
